Ashbourne Cricket Club – Installation of Cricket Nets at Ashbourne Recreation Ground

This project will replace the existing single-lane cricket net at Ashbourne Recreation Ground (public park), with a new high-specification two-lane facility, protected by a gated security fence. The existing net was of basic quality and is now in a very poor state of repair due to a combination of natural deterioration over time and vandalism. The project will provide high quality cricket training facilities, meeting the England & Wales Cricket Board specifications, and will be protected from vandalism by a security fence. In order to construct a two-lane net, the row of cypress trees between the existing net and the football pitch shelter will be felled. The loss of these trees will be compensated for by the planting of the same number of trees elsewhere on the Recreation Ground.
