Aston’s Eyot: deer exclosures for habitat restoration

The aim of this project is restoration and recreation of a flower-rich open habitat by building a deer exclosure as a means of combatting the exceptionally high deer density present which has severely impacted ground flora diversity. This project will also involve removal of nettles, turf stripping, and sowing with appropriate seed (both bought and locally collected). Deer culling is not possible in this area as it is a very well visited nature reserve and the deer are thriving.
