Ayr Gorge Woodlands Improvements

Ayr Gorge Woodlands is one of the most important woodland areas for wildlife in Ayrshire, with an impressive diversity of plants, bats, fungi and invertebrates. It is an attractive site and is regularly used by locals and walkers.

The project aims to improve the amenity through a combination of access work and habitat management. Access improvements include path improvements, construction of bridges/ boardwalks, installation of a roadside fence and the refurbishment of information panels.

Invasive non-native species (such as bracken and giant hogweed) will be controlled and the woodland managed through the creation of gaps and reduction of tree density.
