Ayton Community Hall Restoration

To restore a run-down, former Victorian Church Hall to full community use.

Ayton is a village in the Scottish Borders with a population of approximately 550, a bowling club, school and pub but no central community hub. There is a run-down Victorian church hall in the centre of the village which Ayton Kirk session donated to Ayton Community Hall Association (ACHA), a charity formed specifically to turn the building into a community facility. ACHA has been active locally and has already raised over £12,000 from the local community. ACHA proposes to broaden access to an usage of the hall by upgrading the building to modern standards. This will entail renewing the roof and windows, installing a new heating system and modern insulation, upgrading plumbing and electrical services, providing disabled access, installing a new kitchen and disabled toilets (there is currently only one derelict external toilet).
