Babies Memorial Garden for Gornal Wood Crematorium and Cemetery, Dudley MBC

There is a Babies’ Memorial Garden at Gornal Crematorium and Cemetery where ashes are scattered nearby for the use of bereaved parents and families. It is intended as somewhere to stand or sit, and contemplate, and also a place to leave tokens such as Teddy Bears or toys in memory of the lost children. Unfortunately it has become very crowded and chaotic; the benches provided to sit on are filled with the token objects which are also densely scattered throughout the garden area. This project is to artistically re-design and sensitively re-landscape the garden to create an attractive outdoor space whereby modular shelves and compartments (probably hexagonal) are built to house the precious objects, and separate uncluttered seats provided, plus an extended paved area and attractive planting.
