Backmuir Community Woodland – Access and Interpretation Improvements

Backmuir is the only woodland neighbouring Muirhead and Liff, and one of a few long established woods scattered in the area, being shown in the Ancient Woodland Directory as being of Long Established Plantation Origin. Bachmuir Community Woodland Group aims to raise the funds to purchase a further 8 hectares of woodland directly adjacent to Backmuir Wood. It is effectively part of the same wood and the community wish to safeguard its future and bring it under sympathetic management. The Woodland Trust Scotland is supporting the community in their fantastic efforts to raise the funds which will bring the woodland extension into the Trust’s ownership to be managed as part of Blachmuir Wood in perpetuity.
