Backmuir Wood Extension

Purchase of 7.4 hectares of woodland – an extension to Backmuir Wood, between Muirhead and Liff.
The extension is effectively part of Backmuir Wood already owned by the Woodland Trust (c.50ha), which is managed in partnership with the local community. The community wish to safeguard its future and bring it under sympathetic management, and have already managed to raise £14,665 towards the purchase.

The wood is listed on the Ancient Woodland Register as “Long Established of Plantation Origin” and is diverse in character with a variety of tree species and red squirrels.There are several paths within the extension area, and the wood is popular with local dog walkers and visitors from further afield.
