Balgownie Wood Public Access Enhancement

WFW wishes to reinstate an old drove road as an alternative route from Blairhall to Kincardine. This would cater for groups such as horse-riders and ramblers who are poorly catered for generally and who feel excluded from the West Fife cycle paths. A grant from the Big Lottery Fund in 2008 enabled the group to identify a route, obtain cost estimates and identify possible constraints.
This current proposal relates to a first phase that would link the existing path network at the Blairhall Colliery East site to Balgownie Wood. While in the longer-term completion of the path to Kincardine would target horse riders and ramblers, this phase would be aimed at children (in particular those of primary school age with the wood being suited to school visits/forest schools) and people with mobility problems. Provision would not require continuation to Kincardine.
