Projects / Ball Wall Surface for Hand Ball

Ball Wall Surface for Hand Ball

The specific objectives of our project are:
1. To provide a ball wall/handball facility to the local community for leisure, health and well-being. This provision will not devalue any existing service in the locality.
2. To maximise the health and safety of the current ball wall facility through the installation of a concrete surface, lighting and appropriate drainage system. This surface is ideal for training purposes including that of handball, as it offers excellent ball responsiveness.
3. To provide a suitable surface for handball training/matches: the provision of a concrete surface will provide a predictable and consistent bounce to allow for skill development and fair play. The painting of the wall with lines, targets and images will aid with training.
4. To provide a concrete surface which is highly durable, sustainable, resistant to weather conditions, and requires minimal upkeep. It will maintain its integrity in rain and heat, whilst the addition of flood lighting will offering year-round usability.
Overall, the installation of a concrete surface, drainage, lighting, wall painting and equipment (balls) is in line with Eoghan Rua’s commitment to player development, safety and inclusion: thereby providing a conducive environment for the entire community to reach their full potential in Gaelic sports including handball.
