Banff Gutter Cleaning Project

The Banff Townscape Heritage Initiative, as part of the Banff Renaissance Project, planned a pilot scheme within the Banff Conservation Area of using a 'cherry-picker' to clean the gutters and remove vegetation. This was limited to the grid of High Street, Straith Path, Low Street and Back Path. The scheme was offered free of charge to every proprietor, in the hope that in later years they would pay. (Done collectively, it would be still a very sensible economy). The Banff Preservation and Heritage Society was involved because as a local charity it could become an EB. The THI organised the whole project very correctly and competently, and it was carried out in Spring 2011.
