Barlow Road Community Garden, Wednesbury - Facilities Upgrade (008295)

This project will refurbish/upgrade the garden to create a more accessible, functional and inclusive space. The works include the fit out of the existing summer house to transform it into a year-round training/community space with power and water and a small kitchen, enabling healthy eating/cooking sessions. Three containers currently used by volunteers/staff will be refurbished into practical, welfare and meeting facilities. The paths will be improved to allow access for disabled visitors/wheelchair users and upgrade key garden areas with new raised beds. The improvements will enhance the site's environmental/social value, allowing more people to participate in learning/volunteering/wellbeing activities in a safe inclusive space.
This project builds on over a decade of successful community engagement and will enable the organisation to expand their reach, offer more training and support sessions and enhance volunteer opportunities as well as widen the environmental awareness of local residents.
