Baron’s Haugh Habitat Restoration Programme

This project will enhance primarily 36 hectares of Wood Pasture and Parkland (UK BAP habitat). The improvement of adjacent 5 hectares of Lowland Fen and 1 hectare of Traditional Orchard (both UK BAP habitats), will bring the habitat mosaic back into favourable condition for wildlife. Contractors will cut, re-seed and fence areas and implement managed grazing on the large area of Wood Pasture and Parkland. Watercourses will be unblocked in the Lowland Fen, enabling water level control and benefitting wetland birds. Scrub will be cleared and diseased branches removed from the orchard, encouraging nesting birds and leaving dead wood for invertebrates.
