Barrack Street Community Hub, Manchester - Solar Panels and Electrical Work (008504)

"We are seeking to bring to life an Edwardian school building as a community hub for older, disabled and isolated residents and as an operational base for the charity. Recently transferred to us via a community asset transfer (CAT) the building has been empty for 10 years. The interior is effectively derelict and renovation will involve a full strip out and refit. We also plan to add solar power and fully electrify the heating system.

The larger part of the building will be converted into a fully accessible and welcoming Community Hub space from which we can run a programme of activities aimed at combatting social isolation and building community. Since our target client group are older people and those with health vulnerabilities, the design and build will focus on accessibility and functionality to ensure step-free, barrier-free movement throughout the building and will include installation of an external access ramp, new electronic doors throughout and accessible bathrooms."
