Barrow Hill Community Hall, Chesterfield – Roof repair (006991)

The Barrow Hill Memorial Hall is the village’s community centre. Built in 1863 and given to the community exactly 100 years ago this year as a war memorial and peace hall, it’s an amazing building and is universally loved. Although it’s in a poor condition, it’s the only space for services and gathering in the area.
To celebrate its centenary of community ownership, Barrow Hill Community Trust have been working with residents and an architect to redesign the interior building for the next century enabling it to be used for a wider variety of community services. However, the building has a current serious problem which is ensuring not only that the applicants can’t refurbish the interior of the building, but that the upstairs section is not usable at all – the roof is leaking badly. This is putting the whole facility at risk. This project will repair the roof to make the building watertight.
