Bashfordsland Biodiversity and Access Project

The Woodland Trust, working in partnership with Carrickfergus Borough Council, aims to create a recreational woodland at Bashfordslan in the North East Sector of Carrickgergus, County Antrim. The project proposal is to plant 30,000 native trees over the next two years. This will be achieved through tree planting with the local community. The project will provide a fantastic amenity for the surrounding area. It will also offer opportunities for involving children with woodland heritage through tree planting and schools based activities. The wood will be managed for the benefit of wildlife and people alike and will be freely open to the public for recreation. Once the trees have become established in four to five years time a path network, play area and park furniture will also be introduced. Carrickfergus Borough Council will maintain the trees and recreational area once it has been planted.
