Baxter’s Field, Lewes – Safety Fencing (10062/D)

The project aims to replace the eastern boundary fence line. It is 130m in length. This project has a singular purpose and is the installation of 1.5m high (c.5 ft) galvanised powder coated black or dark green 25.4mm diameter solid tubular bow top railing with posts concreted into ground at a maximum of 2.9m centres including approximately 60m to steep banks at either end of the fence line. The project has three priority objectives: 1. To make safe the present fence line. It is currently unsafe to the extent that the present fence line has collapsed and/or is uprooted and the wooden/metal fence presents a safety risk to all users of the field. 2. To prevent unauthorised access to the field from this boundary line in the evenings. The field has been the subject of continued vandalism as a result of easy access. 3. To safeguard the field for future generations.
The Trust grant will contribute towards the safety fencing.
