Beacon Country Park, Skelmersdale – Pond Restorations and Access Improvements (008150)

Improve 8 groups of ponds located at Beacon Country Park. Deliver restoration works to improve the quality, diversity and accessibility of the ponds and surrounding areas. Through habitat interventions, improve water retention within ponds, reducing runoff and subsequent soil erosion. Restore, improve, and extend footpath networks connecting the areas to allow for improved visitor access and reducing runoff and poaching. Once restored, commission and install visitor interpretation to promote the benefits of well managed water bodies for conservation, climate resilience, health and well-being, and local history. Create and deliver a programme of educational visits with practical engagement for site users and local education groups. Implement a monitoring programme to measure water quality, biodiversity, run-off and pollution.
