Beacon of Europe Improvements

Residents of Ferryhill have continually expressed concern over the poor condition of the Beacon which was unveiled in 1993 by Tony Blair MP. The community feel that the memorial is an important part of the Town’s history and as such should be restored to its former glory. Residents, Councillors and Local Authority staff alike feel that improvements to the Beacon are of paramount importance to the Town. Further, the local College is keen to involve its pupils with the project, encouraging learning accordingly. The aim therefore is to restore the beacon and to bring the communty together in doing so whislt celebrating the Common Market
