Beccles Public Hall – Structural Improvements

The project is to provide sufficient support for the balcony to bring it back into use and at the same time, optimise the use of the foter and balcony to extend the range of activities that can take place in the Hall.
Specifically, the applicants intend to:
– Install five steel joists across the width of the foyer to support the balcony,
– Simplify the layout on the balcony to improve flexibility of use,
– Move the bottom flight of stairs the 90 degrees to save space and improve security. To facilitate this, a new fire door will be needed.
– Relocate the technical area to above the new stairs,
– Relocate the accessible toilet into a corner of the currently spacious ladies toilet. This will need the floor lowering and a new entrance.
