Bedfordshire Ponds – Restoration and Creation

The project will make a major contribution to the delivery of the emerging Beds and Luton Ponds HAP. Based largely at Stotfold Mill Meadows, but also covering a number of other sites, it will involve:
Restoring and managing 20 existing ponds
Creating 6 new ponds at Stotfold Mill Meadows and at the Riddy, Sandy.
Surveying of these ponds by trained ecologists, reporting to BRMC and the National Pond Database.
Planting 20 wetland trees to create a small wet-woodland copse at Stotfold Mill Meadows.
Providing local volunteers with training, tools and support to help undertake the physical works and maintain these ponds in the future.
