Behaviour of Pollutants such as Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in Vermi-Composting of Human and Animal Organic Wastes

Vermi-composting of human and animal organic wastes represents a viable option for a sustainable treatment by converting these into soil enhancers and/pr substitutes. The residues, however, are a source of organic pollutants, which may be introduced via the process and product into gardens, agriculture and horticulture. The project will assess the fate of a class of chemicals, endocrient disrupting componds (EDC’s). Its aims will be to generate prelimary data on the potential of the process to reduce hazards caused by EDC’s and on how to assess such hazards
