Belfast Hills Partnership – Summit trail to Divis Mountain

This is a project to develop a 1.5km summit trail within the National Trusts 2000 acre site at Divis. The trail represents phase one of a larger pedestrian trail system which will eventually consist of 3 loops and cater for a wide range of people and abilities. The new summit path will deliver a high quality, sustainable tourism attraction and local resource for recreation, culture and heritage. It will add considerable value to the Trusts plans to open a café and car park at the site.
The project has been designed in a way that is sensitive to the local habitat and will ensure the future sustainability fo this habitat by providing a designated access route for walkers and hill climbers.Presently many areas of the site are showing signs of erosiona dn human damage, the path will protect this habitat and prevent further damage. The design of the pathway has also been designed to be as sustainable as possible.
