Belfast YMCA – Community Garden

The Community Garden will be a hub for the local area to be used by all ages and abilities on what was previously an unused area on the organisations site. The organisation have already completed the first two phases by preparing the soil for planting beds and installing two polytunnels to extend the growing season and temperature. Working with our volunteers they are planting the area with suitable plants, vegetables and flowers and have installed accessible pathways so there is no barrier for any group to enjoy the garden. The project will become further accessible in the next phase with seating and raised beds. Funding for a shed is sought to be used as a meeting point and also to deliver workshops, demonstrations and youth programmes within the garden.
