Belper Skatepark, Belper – Lighting (5759/D)

Belper Skatepark has been in place for approx 20 years and has had numerous refurbishments over the years. Although this is a popular site with the young people it has been identified that the usage would be increased if the site had lighting in the evenings. This issue was identified following a spate of calls for service from local residents, complaining about anti social behaviour. On investigation, it transpired that the youngsters were skateboarding in lit areas like car parks in the town centre as the skatepark was too dark to use.

The funding will be used to provide fixed lighting columns to increase the usage at the site
