Bentley Greenway, West Midlands- footpath improvements

Bentley Greenway is green infrastructure route identified within the Walsall Local Plan document as a proposed greenway. The Greenway is situated along the historic route of the Bentley Railway and connects Bentley ward through to Wednesfield, Darlaston, and the Blue Green Network. The Blue Green Network is an inter-connected number of green spaces that are situated on or along the canal networks throughout the Black Country.
The Greenway from Wing Close to Cranbourne Road exists only as unsurfaced desire lines and is only accessible to walkers. The local community would like to install a fully accessible path that can be used as a shared-use path suitable for pushchairs, cycling, motor scooters and walkers. Whilst, installing the 1.2km, 2 meter wide path with passing places, we have the opportunity to create wildflower grassland, wet meadows and undertake tree & hedge planting. Improve the biodiversity of the site which is only periodically mow.
