Bentsley Spinney Welcoming Woodland Wildlife Project

This project seeks to improve and enhance the Bentsley Spinney woodland for both people and wildlife in the future, providing an asset on the doorstep of the local community.
Path surfacing works and directional signage as part of this project will enable better local access and allow people to navigate to other green spaces and countryside further afield with confidence.
Production of an interpretation panel will highlight to visitors the wildlife they can discover and how the woodland is managed for the benefit of wildlife. The installation of entrance signs will make visitors feel more welcomed and provide information about who to contact to access more information and site enquiries.
Bird and bat boxes will be installed throughout the Spinney.
The woodland habitat will also be improved through the removal of non-native trees and shrubs and thinning dense and established sycamore. Areas will also benefit from the planting of native species from local provenance seed stock.
Increased school use.
