Bickershaw Country Park

This project aims to reclaim a 247 ha former colliery site situated between some of the most deprived wards of Wigan and Leigh into a green haven for leisure, exercise and nature accessible to the whole community. Largely inaccessible due to few and disconnected paths, overgrown woodland and lack of signage, this project will focus on the northeast compartment creating a path network opening up the site for informal local use and organised health and nature walks. Woodland management volunteering sessions and walks will engage the neighbouring community on the site in a positive way and promote the project locally
