Billesley Common, Birmingham – Sports pitch drainage (7331)

This project is to bring the playing fields and sports pitches on Billesley Common back into use through a programme of drainage and associated works. This will provide facilities for both organised and casual use by the local community. Lack of investment in the pitches and the changing facilities has seen all organised football and cricket activities move elsewhere. Occasional football matches are scheduled and very often postponed due to ground conditions. No cricket has been played for many years. Bringing the pitches back into full use will widen the use of the pitches to other clubs and sports including Football, Gaelic Football, Rugby, Cricket, Athletics and other community sports including casual/unorganised recreation and organised seasonal use. Billesley is an area of high deprivation and the project will have a significant impact on mental and physical health for thousands of local residents.
