Biodiversity for All at Seller’s Wood (SSSI)

This project aims to improve biodiversity at Seller’s Wood nature reserve, while creating an accessible and attractive green space for the local community to enjoy.

The Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust plan to fell a number of Norway Maple trees, an alien species that has an adverse effect on biodiversity in Nottinghamshire.

In addition, boundary fencing will be erected to protect delicate habitats from being destroyed through anti-social activities such as motorbike scrambling and fly-tipping. A species present of particular note is the yellow star-of-bethlehem, a nationally scarce wildflower that is known to be located on only three sites in Nottinghamshire including Seller’s Wood. The destruction of this small isolated population would mean its extinction from the reserve
