Projects / Biodiversity Project; Phase 3

Biodiversity Project; Phase 3

A strip along a south facing boundary wall will be cleared and reclaimed using a heavy digger where clusters of saplings are growing out of building rubble. A mixed fruit orchard will be planted there in spring 2019. A smaller pond excavated in 2009 whose clay liner has since failed, will be re-excavated, lined with rubber material, refilled and planted with aquatic habitat varieties. An overgrown mound of spoil near the entrance from its excavation will be cleared using the digger and moved to the rear of the site to do some landscaping there. Some will also be used to landscape an area in front of the mural which will be covered with a permeable resin bond surface to create a performance space. Extra seating will be installed here. The wildflower meadow will be re ploughed in preparation for seeding in spring 2019 and extended to include the reclaimed area from the cleared mound of spoil. New native tree species will be planted to increase the diversity of the tree stock.
