Bioethanol Production from Anaerobic Digestion

The project proposed here is a three-stage project intended to investigate and develop this concept as far as pilot-scale demonstration of the technology.
Phase 1 is to carry out a literature search to establish the novelty of the system or the extent and success or otherwise of any previous works.
Phase 2 is to carry out laboratory bench-scale work using the bacterial culture in small digester units which are in routine use for modelling conventional digestion processes and using separated municipal waste organic fraction as the substrate.
Phase 3 is to scale up the process to pilot scale (1-5m3) in order to establish more clearly the characteristics of the process.
Phases 2 and 3 would proceed only on a satisfactory outcome of the previous phase
