Birchmere Good Life Garden, Trust Thamesmead

This is a project to convert a childcare centre (known as ‘The One O’clock Club’), which has been empty since 2006 and is now derelict, into a community ‘well-being’ centre, with the focus on supporting and sustaining the whole person (and family) with social, environmental, health and physical activities. These included a community café and community garden with an emphasis on healthy eating, cookery classes, as well as being a place to meet and engage with other members of the community. The building will also become a destination point for people walking, cycling, pushing a pram or wheelchair or general users of Birchmere Park.
