Birdwell Wood – access and biodiversity works

The wood contributes to a corridor of woodland along the M1 and as such presents a prominent feature in the landscape. There is a network of official and permissive paths and the site links to Worsborough Country Park which receives over 150,000 visitors a year.
We intend to cut and maintain paths within the wood to ensure that there is good access. Maintain the open spaces within the wood which adds to the variety of the site in terms of its biodiversity and will enhance the site by providing a different habitat for its flora and fauna.
Regarding the invasive growth of Rhododendron we intend to cut and chip the more mature trees and hand- pull the younger growth
