Birtley Town Community Bowling Club Improvements

The project involves making improvements to the pavilion building through the provision of electric shutters, a new fitted kitchen along with the associated building, electrical work and installing some internal racking.
This project will realise both social and economic benefits in the Elisabethville neighbourhood of Birtley, Tyne and Wear; one of the top 10% most deprived Lower Super Output Areas (IMD 2019). The Charity is run by the community for the community offering invaluable social interaction, low impact exercise and the chance to get out and meet others. This contributes to improved well being for some of Birtley’s most marginalised older people.
The project will help the charity to become more sustainable through funding improvements that will help the club continue to provide a first class bowls offer and facility whilst protecting income generation to meet ongoing revenue expenditure, helping sustain this valuable community asset for years to come.
The improved roller shutter doors will be more thermally insulated helping to retain the heat within the building, particularly during the colder months when the building is used throughout the closed season for meetings and other events.
