Projects / Black Grouse Range Expansion

Black Grouse Range Expansion

The project aims to increase the range and abundance of black grouse through a 3 year experimental translocation project. Black Grouse from the core range (North Pennines) will be moved to suitable sites in the Yorkshire Dales where habitat conditions are suitable to establish new lekking groups.

The long term sustainability of Black Grouse, a priority species in the UK BAP, is dependant on the consolidation and expansion of the current range.
