Black-tailed Godwit Nest Watch Scheme

Black-tailed godwits are a very rare breeding bird. Only two pairs breed in the northwest of England, at Newton Marshes on the Ribble Estuary. The eggs are highly prized by collectors and chicks are vulnerable to predation & trampling by cattle. We will run a 24-hour nestwatch project throughout the breeding season to ensure breeding success for this rare & beautiful bird
