Blackhouse Wood land purchase

WWT has a rare opportunity to create a new nature reserve by purchasing and protecting Blackhouse Wood, an important heritage site and large, ancient, semi-natural woodland in the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) (Site postcode WR6 5DW). The 39 hectare site contains a number of rare woodland flora; is home to important wildlife species, including the nationally protected Dormouse; and has geological/archaeological interest through remnants of former hand quarries. The site borders an existing small but species rich WWT nature reserve and SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) Crews Hill Wood, and its purchase will create one of the most ecologically valuable woodland blocks within Worcestershire.
