Blengdale Crossings Project

Blengdale Forest, in the upper valley of the River Bleng, is managed by the Forestry Commission and is popular with locals and visitors for walking, horse-riding and cycling. It has a network of forest roads, a bridleway and a permissive path providing access, currently limited due to poor siting of one bridge, lack of bridges at other key points and poor path surfaces. The project aims to improve access across the valley bottom and to extend opportunities for recreation through opening up new viewpoints and destinations; making a visit far more inviting. Work will involve construction of two new bridges, a new 8km loop bridleway and a short path to a new viewpoint overlooking the river.
