The path route offers the easiest gradient possible and will enable people living in the local community to use the route as part of their daily travel choice. The benign gradient will also encourage people who are less active to try cycling or walking as the first steps towards a more active lifestyle or for those more adventurous souls to walk the full John Muir Way ( which opened in April 21st 2014) between Dunbar and Helensburgh
