Boosting the Biodiveristy of Baldoon

The project will see the removal of diapidated/redundant stock fencing and the installation of robust new fencing around 32ha of Coastal Saltmarsh and Coastal & Floodplain Grazing Marsh (both UKBAP habitats). This will allow a grazing regime to be introduced for conservation management. Compartmentalising the land through fencing will allow control over the level/intensity of grazing over the land. This is important because cattle provide a sustainable way to regulate vegetation density and height within these habitats to those favoured by various ground-nesting bird species – eg lapwing (UKBAP species).
