Boston Castle and Courtyard Restoration Project

This proposal will remodel the existing courtyard of Boston Castle and create a circular shaped amphitheatre with a paved performance area, surrounded by a spiral path for audience viewing which will be suitable for wheelchair access. The courtyard area will be a focal point of the scheme providing an interesting and sociable venue for people visiting the park and which would be the first outdoor amphitheatre in Rotherham. The Friends Group and other organisations such as the Ranger Service often hold family events and activities in the park. A new courtyard area will add value to these activities by providing a purpose built area with an attractive backdrop. Consultation with schools and colleges throughout the borough has shown that they would like to use the courtyard space to hold school plays and deliver curricular and extra curricular activities.
