Bourne Community Hub, Dorset- Outdoor play space (006523

The creation of a new play space on a Green in the heart of Bourne, a former local authority housing estate in Alderney ward which is in the 20% most deprived in England and has the highest rates of child poverty in Dorset. It will replace old and unimaginative play equipment within the site of a dilapidated Youth Centre opposite the Green. The old Youth Centre is to be replaced with a new Community Hub (50 place pre-school, youth facilities, community cafe with garden, community activities and advice services) by the Poole Communities Trust. The Green offers a better location for play and enables the natural landscape (grassy mounds and trees) to be incorporated into the design. The works to the play space will include: removal of old equipment & fencing (to be re-used); supply & installation of new equipment & benches, gates, paths, natural play facility, re-use and painting of fencing and project management.
