Bradley Greenway Plantation and Viaduct

The aim is to promote and develop the River Colne catchment and surrounding areas as a recreational, cultural and environmental resource for the whole community. This project will help develop a core area for biodiversity in the existing Kirklees Habitat Network defined in the Local Plan. It will;

Erect nest boxes providing valuable nesting habitat for Species of Principal Importance (house sparrow and starling) and another species undergoing significant population decline partly as a result of loss of nesting habitat (swift).
Erect bat boxes providing roosting habitat for 2 bat Species of Principal Importance (noctule and soprano pipistrelle) and another particularly associated with water bodies (Daubenton’s bat).
Facilitate the ongoing long term habitat improvement works by providing planting opportunities for shrubs and wildflowers to help diversify habitats further.
