Projects / Brandon to Bishop Auckland Railway Path route improvement

Brandon to Bishop Auckland Railway Path route improvement

The project will enable a new route to be formed for recreation and commuting journeys to replace the currently steep and potentially hazardous start of the Brandon/Bishop Auckland Railway Path from Broompark Picnic Area. The new route will greatly reduce the gradient and provide a convenient and considerably more accessible path for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The construction will involve the creation of a ramped path across the slope and provide an opportunity for considerable biodiversity enhancements across the remainder of the site. Much of the work associated with biodiversity enhancements will be undertaken by young people engaged in Entry to Employment initiatives to provide skills relevant to future work careers.
