Breakfree

St Paul and St Barnabas Parish was established in 1837. The building offers a large upstairs hall, two small counselling rooms, a minor hall, a project room, kitchen and toilet. Current weekly users include drama, art and football. The building is also used as a foodbank, asylum seekers support venue and by the local police and health and social care trust. Ulster University offers a community outreach programme on site developing university entry level skills training. The current facilities are in a state of considerable disrepair with only the project room of a usable standard. The rest of the building shows signs of damp, broken windows and rotten frames, incomplete suspended ceilings and peeling paintwork. Over recent years the church has significantly developed its community outreach services and outgrown the capacity of the usable project room. Biffa Award funding will allow the applicant to achieve this.
