Breathing Life into Gamston Wood

Felling conifer trees and replanting with native species will encourage native plants, birds and invertebrates to expand. Stumps will be treated to ensure they do not grow back.
Coppicing will promote biodiversity whilst lengthening the life of trees, conserving them for the future.
A small gravel track will be built to ensure coppicing and other management activities can take place now and in the future. The track will also provide new open habitats and a greater structural diversity within the wood.
Keeping rides open and controlling vegetation in glades will encourage the development of stepped habitat gradients.
