Brickwork Repairs and Repointing, Messing Village Hall, Colchester

The project is to remove the current cement mortar pointing, replace spalled brickwork, and repoint the elevation in traditional lime mortar. The Messing Village Hall is a Grade II listed building dating from 1748. The brickwork to the front elevation is original and has suffered from water and frost damage as a result of historic flooding in the adjacent road. The flooding was cured by extensive drainage works carried out by Essex Highways in 2015. The repairs to the village hall will safeguard this listed building for many years. The hall is widely used by the local community by several groups and is regularly hired. It is also the village Polling Station.
