Bringing House Sparrows Back to London’s Parks and Greenspaces

A three year research project to trial the effectiveness of amenity landscape management prescriptions in order to increase food availability, to increase House Sparrow populations. The project will work with 6 partners across London to trail management techniques 24 separate 0.5ha sites. The project will include baseline surveys of populations, current management and food availability, working with landowners to trial management techniques (unmown grass, arable flower mix, or meadow creation) monitoring and testing results against control sites, and a programme of training supervising volunteers and education/outreach to encourage people to support sparrow’s in their gardens.
