Bringing the Generations Together

The Sea Cadets have occupied 4 Station Road, as tenants, for 60 years and the opportunity arrived to purchase it outright and secure their home for perpetuity. The project will refurbish the ground floor and provide it as a major community centre for regular meetings, particularly for the young and the elderly as well as a meeting venue for other community groups on a less frequent basis. Realising that their usage is limited to evenings and weekends, research led them to the CVS who introduced them to the Older People’s Action Group. OPAG, an umbrella organisation that embraces some 14 or so local older people’s groups, will now have a regular meeting venue, available to them 5 days per week with appropriate accommodation and facilities to meet their growing needs.
