Bringing the William Boulton Steam Engine at Middleport Pottery Back to Life

Restore the Middleport Steam Engine to full steam functionality. Provide a viewing platform visitors to see the Steam Engine and Boiler, as well as new visitor routes into the building.
On-site conservation with at least 1 talk per week by the conservator during the restoration process.
Install engaging good quality heritage interpretation which compliments the existing visitor experience on site.
Create a high quality volunteer experience — providing training and skills to the local community. Provide new skills and knowledge in engineering and conservation.
Recruit a pool of 8 core volunteers trained to operate and maintain the Steam Engine in the future, and training other new volunteers for the future.
Work in partnership Staffordshire University and Stoke College to provide 6 student placements.
Work with Staffordshire Uni media department to provide filming and assistance on heritage
interpretation.
